Two Questions
We’re going to start this blog post with 2 questions:
- Are you a self-employed tradesperson or do you run a small business?
- Are you advertising on www.checkatrade.com
If you’ve answered yes to one or both of these questions do you have a website?
If not, then you could be losing out on a lot of business. Let us explain why.
Some answers
When someone is looking for a reputable tradesperson a popular website that many people use is Checkatrade. Let’s have a look at a page of results for plumbers in Maidenhead:
This page of results is very typical with all the scores being incredibly high and everyone scoring 9.6 or higher. This makes it hard for potential customers to know who they should choose so they have to dig a bit deeper.
Clicking on one of the plumbers we get to see their full profile. This includes a breakdown of their scores with regards to workmanship, tidiness and reliability etc. We also get a brief description of their services and contact details.
Some of the companies have just mobile numbers, some have mobile numbers and email addresses, and a few have telephone numbers, email addresses and website addresses. For a potential customer who is after a tradesperson then clicking through to a website enables them to really learn more about the company. They can get more details on the services offered, perhaps see pictures showcasing their work, details of their accreditations and a guide to their prices.
When you’re competing against so many other people in a crowded marketplace you need to make it as easy as possible for people to find you and learn about you. And a website is key to helping to win those customers. Without a website some people won’t even call you!
Now let’s turn this around and assume someone does a Google search and comes across your website. If they then see the Checkatrade logo on your website they could click on it to be taken to the Checkatrade website and see what score you have and read online reviews about your company. It reinforces the fact that you’re a quality tradesperson.
