So, you’ve decided you want to build a website using WordPress and you’ve chosen 1&1 as your web hosting company. Great!
So you headed over to 1&1 website and now you’re confused. Let us guide you to everything you need to know about choosing the right package to build a WordPress website on 1&1.
Hovering over their Web Hosting menu we get the following options:
Let’s discuss these options in detail:
The 1&1 MyWebsite package is 1&1’s own tool to create your own website. Similar to something like Wix. We’ve never used it so can’t comment on how good it is. But if you want a WordPress website then this is not the one for you.
Managed Cloud Hosting
This package is not for building WordPress Websites.
This is WordPress hosting but it does come with a few limitations. 1&1 manage WordPress for you which means you will be limited on what plugins you can install. So if you came across a great plugin and 1&1 didn’t support it you wouldn’t be able to install it.
Therefore, if you want a WordPress website we don’t recommend this package.
Web Hosting and Linux Hosting
I think these packages are essentially the same but just branded differently. The cost is certainly the same and the features seem to be identical.
Our recommendation is you go for one of the Web Hosting packages as shown below.
If you just need one website then the Basic package will be perfect for you. If you intend to build more than one website then go for the Plus package.
